The goal of my ministry here at Charity is to help people build a solid foundation for their lives based upon on God’s unchanging Word. There are many avenues and approaches by which mankind is trying to find God and achieve “happiness.” Many set about to find, create or even become their own god. All such humanly created paths to a “higher being” or “true spirituality” are simply dead-ends.
God’s Word denies all methods man may devise to save or exalt himself and offers ONLY Jesus Christ in their place. We may have multitudes of religions and churches in this world, but only Jesus paid the ultimate price by shedding His precious blood to save you from eternal condemnation for your sin.
The scriptures state in Isaiah 28:9-10:
“Whom will he teach knowledge? And whom will he make to understand the message? Those just weaned from milk? Those just drawn from the breasts? 10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little”
The most important quality that the shepherd of a local congregation can have is a sincere desire to lovingly share God’s Word with the flock. The feeding of the sheep is not to include false or faulty man-inspired messages. Instead I must “little by little,” as stated in the Scriptures above, teach people the truth of God’s Word. I must demonstrate that the Word of God and His Holy Spirit, rather than the preacher, will bring about lasting peace, purpose and true spiritual prosperity.
Jesus said in John 14 & 15 that the Holy Spirit would teach the disciples “truth” and “put them in remembrance” of the truth He had taught. I believe that when I teach people what God expects of them, I must use the foundation of His Word. As a teacher and preacher of God’s Word, and as a follower of the principle set forth in Acts 6:4 (Where the apostles declare that they must focus on prayer and the ministry of the word) I believe that I shepherd best, when I, as the Master Shepherd Himself did with His disciples, lovingly teach people how to live and serve God by constantly directing them to God’s Word.
